2015 Andrew Carnegie Medals For Excellence Shortlisted Titles Announced

HHcarnegie_2015shortlist“The Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction were established in 2012 to recognize the best fiction and nonfiction books for adult readers published in the U.S. the previous year. The winners (one for fiction, one for nonfiction) are announced at the ALA Annual Conference; winning authors receive a $5,000 cash award, and two finalists in each category receive $1,500.”

Selected from a list of 50 titles, this year’s Shortlisted books are:

Nora Webster, by Colm Tóibín
On Such a Full Sea, by Chang-rae Lee
Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, by Bryan Stevenson
The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History, by Elizabeth Kolbert
Thirteen Days in September: Carter, Begin, and Sadat at Camp David, by Lawrence Wright

The winners, one each in fiction and nonfiction, will be announced on June 27 at ALA’s Annual Conference in San Francisco.
