What’s The Buzz? Honeybees and Beekeeping!

January 21, 2015

honeybeesThursday, January 22nd from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Essex Town Hall
Ned Farrell, Beekeeper and Owner of The Bee Happy Co. will use pictures and real apiary equipment to help bring the audience into the world of the honeybee, to learn all about what the honeybees do for us, the role of the beekeeper, and how enjoyable it is to work with bees!

  • Learn how to recognize honeybees and see how they are different from wasps and hornets.
  • Discover all the products the bees produce in the beehive, including delicious honey, but also wonderful propolis, pollen, beeswax, and royal jelly.
  • See how to start your own beehive, with both low-tech and high-tech equipment. Honeybees help us in so many ways, and now that the bees are struggling a bit, beekeeping has grown to become a fun and fulfilling family activity!

Ned Farrell has over 25 years experience working with honeybees throughout the U.S. and for the Peace Corps in Paraguay, utilizing their Africanized “killer” bees. Ned’s company specializes in producing the highest quality all-natural hive products for overall well-being, inside and out.

The Program is free and open to all. Please pre-register by calling: (860) 767-1560 or stop by the library.
