Summer Reading…In Your Ear

August 12, 2009

We’re in the midst of the summer reading season and the books are flying off the shelves– which normally wouldn’t be a problem. In these days of budget cuts however, we’ve had less money to buy books which sometimes means we don’t have all the copies on the shelves to satisfy our patron’s requests. We would like to proffer one solution (there are others, including ILL requests) which is listening to books using our FREE Overdrive downloadable audiobook service. It’s so easy to use and perhaps you can ‘read’ the book you want right away instead of waiting in a long holds queue. You can listen to these audiobooks on your iPhone, iPod or MP3 players, your computer, and many can be burnt to CDs for easy listening in your car.

We have hundreds of titles available right now and we add new titles every month. For you Young Adults out there who have school reading lists, check out our titles and don’t forget we have some terrific books for casual reading including the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, Looking For Alaska by (great guy) John Green, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin, among many others.

Titles that were added to the collection in July include:

The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich
Angels & Demons by Dan Brown
Black Hills by Nora Roberts
Crazy For The Storm by Norman Ollestad
