The Essex Historical Society A To Z, From Augers To Zanzibar

August 12, 2008

Don’t miss the chance to find out more about the interesting collections of the Essex Historical Society.

On Sunday, September 28 at 4 pm, Eve Potts and Debbie Weinstein, chairs of the Archival Angels Historical Society Committee. will be on hand with an eye-opening slide lecture, ” A to Z-from Augers to Zanzibar.” You’ll hear the stories behind an alphabet of collectible objects from quilts and paintings, to samplers and cookbooks. You’ll learn about a gameboard made out of wood from a ship that sank in our harbor, a bullet-holed hat from the Grand Army of the Republic, niddy noddies, oxen snow shoes, and lots more.

We guarantee you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into your grandmother’s attic as you learn about life here in Essex in earlier days.
