Visit Boston With The Friends

February 4, 2008

Join other Library Friends and shoreline residents for a stimulating day in Boston. We’ll begin with a tour of the recently opened Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), and conclude with a tour of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Lunch in a private room at Legal Sea Foods is included.

The Institute of Contemporary Art (pictured above) is exciting both for its architecture and its cutting edge art collection and exhibits. Founded in 1936, ICA moved to its new home December 10, 2007, where it captures the vitality of contemporary culture and the excitement of a revitalized waterfront area.

The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is an impressive building overlooking Boston Harbor. Designed by architect I.M. Pei and dedicated on October 20, 1979, it serves two purposes: to educate the public about the life and work of John F. Kennedy, and to house archival materials for research and study.
  • The bus will depart Town Hall at 8am. and return by 6pm.
  • The cost of the package, including lunch, is $90.
  • Twenty percent of the cost is tax deductible.

Sign up now and submit your check, made payable to Friends of the Essex Library, at the library by March 15. Payment is non-refundable. Questions? Ask Daphne Nielsen, or 767-0547.

Don’t miss a day of camaraderie and an opportunity to explore two of Boston’s finest museums.
