Great New Writers

Barnes & Noble established the Discover Great New Writers program in 1990. The program seeks out the best new literary talent each year from all the many books that are published. The 2006 finalists are: Eric Blehm for “The Last Season”; Ben Fountain, for “Brief Encounters With Che Guevara”; Marilyn Johnson, for “The Dead Beat”; O.Z. Livaneli, for “Bliss”; Daniel Mendelsohn, for “The Lost” and Sam Savage, for “Firmin.”
