I"m obsessed with MBS (Mysterious Benedict Society) and the sequel so I went to the curiosity chronicle and it was very enjoyable. Also did you know there's going to be a third book?

I just saw this online. I'm a Berkeley friend of Jenny and would appreciate your passing along this message:
I'd love to hear how you're doing, you and the fam. As for the children's books, YOU GO, GIRL! I'm quite proud of you and so not surprised, as your ridiculous talent was always evident.
My love to you (and Gerry),
Jan (Pic)

I appreciate littel historical touches like the ones mentioned in the comment above. However that kind of depth was rare, and more often the series tried to "humanize" the founders in unflattering ways.

Yes, they were human, but I read McCullough's book and I see little of the same spirit in the HBO production.

I wrote a take on the series if you are interested:

Lovely. Great idea to have a blog letting your community know about award winning literature- the Newbery and Caldecott books this year are delicious.

The Edgars are one of the most popular page on my suite of Literary Award sites that cover over 250 awards world wide, including www.bookawardsonline.com, which covers American awards. The site offers a news with updates about every award covered.

When you consider that the Edgars are up against the Pulitzer and National Book Awards in the USA, that's impressive and one-up for the mystery genre.

I came across your site when I was researching the Essex Book Festival -in the county of Essex in England that is! The UK now boasts approaching 300 literary festivals per year and the County of Essex holds month long series of events in March each year. (www.literaryfestivals.co.uk/essex.html)

Grand to stumble upon you.

Best wishes from Australia and the UK
